Gastech 2026: 130 Videos in Four Days at One of the World's Biggest Energy Shows

Gastech brought the global energy industry to BITEC Bangkok for four days in September 2026. We were selected to cover it, and delivered 130 videos and nearly 7,000 photographs before the show closed. Here is what it took: the challenges, the team and the data.

Gastech 2026: 130 Videos in Four Days at One of the World's Biggest Energy Shows

In September 2026, the global energy industry met in Bangkok. Gastech, one of the world's largest gatherings for natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, climate technologies and carbon solutions, filled BITEC for four days, opened by the Prime Minister of Thailand. We were selected to cover it after a rigorous process of interviews, presentations and reviews.

By the time the doors closed on day four, our team had delivered 130 videos and nearly 7,000 photographs. This is how that happened: what made the show hard, how we ran the team, and how we kept thousands of files under control while the show was still running.

130 videos in four days. Nearly 7,000 photographs from 24 areas of the venue. One show that closed with 59,468 attendees from more than 150 countries.

01From a College Festival to a Global Stage

Blue Apple started with a camera at a college festival. Gastech put us in front of energy ministers, global CEOs and tens of thousands of delegates from around the world. Being chosen for it, after interviews, presentations and reviews, is one of the proudest milestones in our journey: from being photographers to building a team that delivers at a global scale.

02The Size of the Show

Gastech is not a single conference. It is an exhibition, a conference and several co-located events running at the same time, under one roof. The organiser's own closing figures for 2026:

  • 59,468 attendees from more than 150 countries
  • 800+ exhibiting companies and 800+ speakers
  • 20+ energy ministers
  • Around US$40 billion in deals, supply agreements and investment commitments
  • 200 sessions across 15 conference programmes

03The Challenges

Everything happens at once

While a minister speaks on the plenary stage, a panel is starting in a conference theatre, a signing is happening on a stand, and the AI x Energy programme is running somewhere else in the building. You cannot be everywhere, so you have to decide in advance what matters most, and put the right person in the right room before it starts.

Head-of-state protocol

The opening address by the Prime Minister of Thailand came with the security and positioning rules that any head-of-state moment brings. Positions are fixed, movement is limited, and there is exactly one chance to get the shot. Our first frame on day one was taken at 6:29 in the morning.

Video at the speed of the show

A video delivered a week after the show is a record. A video delivered the same day is something people can share while the show is still happening. Producing 130 of them in four days meant editing ran alongside filming, every day, from the first session to the last.

04Team Management

We brought one of the biggest media teams on the show floor, and a big team only works if everyone knows their job without asking. Every crew had a zone: the plenary stage, the conference theatres, the exhibition halls, and the edit desk. Each zone worked from the same priority list, so when two important moments happened at once, the decision had already been made.

  • One lead per zone, so the client always has one person to call
  • A shared shot priority list, agreed before the doors open
  • Photographers, videographers and editors working as one unit, not three departments
  • A daily reset: what was delivered, what is still owed, what changes tomorrow

05Data Management

Nearly 7,000 photographs and 130 videos are only useful if the client can find the one they need. We organised every file by where it was taken, across 24 areas of the venue: the plenary hall, each theatre, the exhibition halls, registration, the lounges and more. A marketing team looking for the opening ceremony or a particular stand goes straight to that folder instead of scrolling through thousands of frames.

Multi-camera shows also teach you one rule the hard way: sync every camera's clock before day one. When several bodies shoot the same moment, time is how you put their files back in order. A camera with the wrong date makes that much harder.

06What We Would Tell Anyone Covering a Show This Size

  1. 1Plan by zone, not by schedule. A timetable tells you what is happening; zones tell you who is covering it.
  2. 2Agree the priority list before day one. On the floor, there is no time for a phone call.
  3. 3Put the edit desk on site. Speed comes from editing while the show runs, not after it ends.
  4. 4File by location from the first card. Sorting 7,000 frames afterwards is far harder than filing them as they come in.
  5. 5Sync every camera's clock. It costs a minute and saves hours.

Gastech moves to Houston in September 2027. For us, Bangkok was proof that a team that started at a college festival can deliver on one of the biggest stages in global energy.
