Wine doesn't photograph the way most trade shows do. There is no keynote stage, no single moment everyone in the room turns toward at once. The story is scattered across a thousand small pours, at a thousand small tables, happening at the same time. Covering it properly means being everywhere, quietly, for four days straight — which is roughly the opposite of how you'd cover a summit or a product launch. This is what we learned taking Blue Apple International to ProWine Asia Singapore, the region's largest international trade fair for wines and spirits.
What ProWine Asia Singapore Actually Is
ProWine Asia Singapore is the Southeast Asian arm of ProWein Düsseldorf — one of the world's most established wine and spirits trade fair franchises. Now in its sixth edition, the fair runs out of the Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre alongside FHA Food & Beverage Asia, letting wine, spirits, and food-and-hospitality buyers move between halls under one badge. It's a trade-only floor: importers, distributors, sommeliers, hoteliers, and retail buyers from across ASEAN, rather than a public expo. That single fact changes almost everything about how it should be photographed — there is no crowd to capture, only relationships being formed one conversation at a time.
Why We Took This Job Seriously
Our clients in India, Thailand, and Dubai already know what we deliver. ProWine Singapore was different — it was a test of whether we could deliver the same standard on a floor where nobody at the venue had worked with us before, in a country where "we'll figure it out on-site" isn't a plan.
That's the quieter story behind every international assignment we take on. For us a new market is a project before it's a shoot: the floor plan studied in advance, the programme mapped session by session, the kit specified for the venue's lighting rather than whatever happens to be in the bag. None of that shows up in a single photograph — but it's the reason the photographs exist at all. Each show we complete sharpens the plan for the next one.

Planning the Coverage: A Floor With No Center
A keynote gives you a fixed point to build a shot list around. A wine fair gives you none. Our pre-show planning for ProWine Singapore looked different from a summit brief:
- Hall-by-hall reconnaissance on day one — walking the full floor before shooting a single frame, to map where the regional pavilions, masterclass stages, and tasting counters sat relative to each other
- A rotation, not a route — instead of one photographer following one path, the team split the floor into zones and rotated through them every 45–60 minutes, so no exhibitor's peak moment was missed because we were on the other side of the hall
- Masterclasses treated as mini keynotes — ProWine's programme of sessions led by Masters of Wine and industry speakers were the one place the show did have a "stage," so we covered those the way we'd cover a conference session: fixed position, wide-to-tight coverage, speaker and audience reaction both
- Golden-hour tastings — the busiest, most photogenic pours happen in the final two hours before each day's close, when buyers who've been walking the floor all day finally slow down to actually taste. We built the day's shot priorities around that window rather than the opening bell
On the Floor
What surprised us most was the pace. A tech summit has lulls — between sessions, during lunch — that a media team can use to reposition, backup cards, or breathe. A trade fair like this doesn't have lulls. Every square meter of the hall is someone's five-minute pitch to a buyer who flew in from Jakarta or Manila specifically for this. Missing a moment here doesn't mean missing a keynote line — it means missing the one interaction an exhibitor's entire trip was built around.
That pushed us toward a same-day workflow even more aggressive than usual: cull and select during the lunch window, edit and export overnight, and have a highlight set ready before exhibitors had even flown home. For a first-time show in a new country, that turnaround was also the pitch — proof, delivered on day two, that we could be trusted with day four.
What This Means for Brands Exhibiting at ProWine
If you're an Indian or Southeast Asian wine, spirits, or F&B brand considering ProWine Singapore, the coverage brief is different from a conference brief:
| What to plan for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| A rotation-based photography plan, not a single shot list | The action is distributed across the floor, not centered on one stage |
| Coverage during masterclasses specifically | This is the one place buyers gather in one room — high-value networking context |
| A same-day social workflow | Buyers move on fast; a highlight reel delivered the next morning is competing with exhibitors who send nothing for weeks |
| A media partner who has already solved the travel logistics | A team stuck at a border or missing equipment clearance is a team that isn't on your booth |
How Blue Apple International Works Internationally
ProWine Singapore is now part of a growing list that includes Japan, Thailand, and the UAE — each one a market we prepared for as its own project before we thought of it as a shoot. We're not the biggest international media team on the circuit yet. We're the one that treats every new country as seriously as the client treats the show.
If you're exhibiting internationally and want a media partner who has already done the harder work of getting the team there, get in touch and we'll build the brief around your booth, your buyers, and your timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is ProWine Asia Singapore?
ProWine Asia Singapore is the Southeast Asian edition of the ProWein Düsseldorf trade fair franchise — an international, trade-only fair for wines and spirits, held at the Singapore EXPO alongside FHA Food & Beverage Asia and organised by Informa Markets and Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
How is photographing a wine trade fair different from a conference?
There's no single stage to build coverage around. The action — tastings, buyer conversations, masterclasses — happens simultaneously across the whole floor, which means a rotation-based coverage plan works better than a fixed shot list built around one keynote moment.
Does Blue Apple International cover events outside India?
Yes. We've covered ProWine Asia Singapore as well as events in Japan, Thailand, and the UAE, alongside our ongoing work across India. Each new market means solving travel, equipment, and access logistics well before the shoot itself.
Can Blue Apple International cover our booth at the next ProWine Singapore?
Yes — get in touch and we'll build a coverage plan around your specific exhibition space, buyer meetings, and any masterclasses you're part of.
